One of the oldest written documents in the Croatian language, the Baška Tablet, originates from Jurandvor, a town in the immediate hinterland of Baška. The Glagolitic carved monument from the 12th century is kept in the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and a copy of it can be seen in the Jurandvor Church of St. Lucia.

Although Baška is located on an island, located in its southeast, it is well connected to the mainland by bridge, ferry connection with the neighboring island of Rab, by bus with other places on the island of Krk, and Rijeka, the center of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. Baška is known in history and literature for the famous Baška tablet, but it also boasts other valuable cultural landmarks that capture attention. Baška has the characteristics of a Mediterranean climate, pleasant springs, warm summers with minimal rainfall, mild autumns and windy winters. In the summer months, sea temperatures reach +25 C, and the swimming season lasts from May to September. In Baška, winds blow that give characteristics to individual seasons, most often the bora, the wind that prevails in winter, the jugo in spring and autumn, and the northwesterly – the mistral in summer.
